Second step to get more supply chain management jobs is to create a unique solution

Once you know who your target industry, company, and decision maker, you can now focus on the sourcing problems they’re facing and what you can do to help.

Take something your audience members are struggling with and offer them a unique solution.

Solve the problem in a way no one else in the supply chain industry does.

Focus on the strengths of your procurement expertise and what’s unique about it.

Look at similar solutions from your competitors and identify what's different about your purchasing solutions.

One way to become unique is to highlight extras about how you get things done.

You could show additional skills and experience and bundle them as a package that you bring to the organization. Show higher quality standards or demonstrate strong work ethic with extra service, like 24-hour responsive procurement support or significant cost savings. You can offer a unique salary structure or bonus plan you don't see anyone else offering.

The most important thing is to focus on solving problems. If you get that right, you're assured of opportunities.

Once you launch your supply chain management career portfolio, keep seeking feedback from your colleagues and customers so you make improvements to give the market what they’re looking for.

Next Steps: Figure out how your expertise and experiences uniquely solves a problem your target market faces and write this out in a simple and concise statement.
